TUE, SEP 27 – ARRIVE LISBONArrive today in the capital city of Lisbon. In the 15th Century,Portugal was the first nation to begin exploration and trade farfrom the shores of the Mediterranean. Enjoy an orientation tourupon arrival. View Jeronimos Monastery, a Manueline Renais-sance masterpiece where Vasco da Gama is buried. See theTower of Belem, Castelo Sao Jorge, the Alfama district, thecobble-stoned streets of the Old Bairro Alto, the Lower Town(Baixa), the Praca do Rossio, arcade buildings and fountains,and the tropical Estela gardens.(D)
WED, SEP 28 – LISBON/FATIMAThis morning you depart for the village of Fatima, the world’smost famous Marian shrine. Here, on the thirteenth of eachmonth between May and October in 1917, the Blessed Motherappeared to three young children and exhorted the world topray for world peace. Your visit this afternoon will include theBasilica of Our Lady of Fatima, site of Francisco and Jacinta’sgraves, and the Little Chapel of Apparitions with the statue of“Our Lady of Fatima.” Time for devotion and worship.(B,D)

As youdrive through the Portuguese countryside, you will see the holycities of Coimbra and Braga. Coimbra is the site of theMonastery of St. Clare, which is the resting place of QueenSanta Isabel, patron saint of Portugal. In Braga, see the NationalShrine of the Immaculate Conception of Portugal on Mt.Sameiro, and the Shrine of the “Good Jesus” on Mt. Espinho.(B,D)
FRI, SEP 30 – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELAYour morning tour of Santiago de Compostela, the capital cityof Galicia, will include the magnificent 12th centuryRomanesque and Baroque cathedral housing the remains of St. James, patron saint of Spain. Then visit thePrado Museum, housing a collection of masterpieces bySpain’s artists Velazquez, Goya and El Greco. Your afternoonis at leisure for shopping or exploring on your own.(B)
TUE, OCT 4 – MADRID/LOURDESToday you head northeast through the quaint scenery of themountainous Spanish countryside. Then cross the border intoFrance to the shrine city of Lourdes where between February11th and July 16th, 1858, the Virgin Mary appeared in the Grottoof Massabielle to the poor shepherd girl, Bernadette, a total of18 times. Scratching the ground as instructed by Mary,Bernadette saw a miraculous spring well up where none hadexisted before.(B,D)
WED, OCT 5 – LOURDESThis morning you visit the Grotto of Apparitions, Rosary Basilica,Basilica of St. Pius X and Way of the Cross over the Hillside.Attend the Blessed Sacrament Procession, the Blessing of theSick and the famous Torchlight Procession. This afternoon is atleisure.(B,D)
